The Big 5 Transfer Targets This Summer

There are some players who warm sought some famous club this summer. There are five players who made the biggest move this summer if it really happened that is Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale, Luis Suarez, Cesc Fabregas and Cristiano Ronaldo. Here is Martin Keown's decision whether they should stay or it is time for them to go.

WAYNE ROONEY

Wayne Rooney has heard about since last summer is Robin van Persie and that can't have been easy for him. Strikes like to be the center of attention at their club. So Rooney is probably very flattered by the link to Jose Mourinho. He was used to being the main at Man United but last season went wrong from the moment he got injured with that nasty gash at the start of the season. It then obviously hurt being dropped by Sir Alex Ferguson - maybe he didn't feel as valued as in the past.

But Rooney doesn't need to leave to be a good player. This is because United is as big as club in there. Maybe, it will be a battle with Van Persie to be the No 1 striker but at United he's surrounded by the best players in the country and that quality will drive him on. He can be part of the new era at United under David Moyes and return to his form of previous seasons.

LUIS SUAREZ

Suarez is not at a club which is matching his achievements as an individual. But he should leave Liverpool. Once a player says they want to go, there's little point trying to keep them. And he's not even eligible for the first games of the season.

The Suarez saga will just be a sideshow until well into September unless he leaves. We shouldn't be talking about him once the season starts and I'm sure that's not what Brenden Rodgers wants either. Some people think he's the best Liverpool striker since Kenny Dalglish but they have to accept the inevitable.

GARETH BALE

Maybe, Bale will stay and he's right too. He's been a huge part of Tottenham's re-emergence as a force in the Premier League. He's part of that story and the club has made him feel special. He was enjoying himself so much last season, experimenting to find new ways to improve his game. A lot of credits goes to Andre Villas Boas for that and he can continue to improve.

You have to love your players and you ca see that with Villa Boas, pouring out towards Bale. If Spurs fail to break into the top four this seasons, maybe then is the time to leave. But it seems best to try achieve it with them, at the club where he is so happy.

CESC FABREGAS

Fabregas went there to take over fron Xaavi and Andres Iniesta and that can still happen. He's had injuries but he's still an outstanding talent. I saw that during the Confederations Cup this summer.

A move to Manchester United or back to Arsenal might feel tempting but i think he should stay in Barcelona. It was his dream for such a long time. It's character building to carry the fight through. He'd always feel a tinge of regret if he left, even though he's won the league and cup already.

CRISTIANO RONALDO

This one is tough to call. Real Madrid and Manchester United are both big clubs so swapping one for the other isn't hugely significant. But Ronaldo became the player he is at United, he joined them when he was little so that the club is still clear in her mind. He knows the club better than the new manager does not. And he knew he would feel loved there, which has been a problem at times it seems to be in Spanish.

There is a special relationship between him and Sir Alex Ferguson and they may still need him to help persuade him to make a move. But recently Ronaldo says he will never return to the United.

Higuain Still Loyal to the Real Madrid

LONDON -  Arsenal dreams to get Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain increasingly difficult. The Gunners squad suffered another blow when Argentina players reportedly wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Before rumors surfaced that the 25-year-old striker has agreed to migrate to the north London club with a price tag of £ 23 million (RM110.3 million). Real president Florentino Perez as is denied the allegations and told the Spanish media that Higuain will meet with Perez soon to resolve his future. The Spanish will start pre-season session next week and Higuain will join the training session including a friendly against Bournemouth, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.

Higuain expressed his intention to leave the capital city of Madrid end of last season after feeling ignored by former coach Jose Mourinho. But he now feels able to be in the planning of new coach Carlo Ancelotti, particularly when there are no bids on it from officially released Arsenal or other club.

"We do not want him to go. After all no one came forward from the Arsenal of any formal offer," said Perez. Team managers understand The Gunners, Arsene Wenger has now started to change the target to another player that is 20 years old French striker, Yaya Sanogo.

Arsenal has also submitted a bid for the controversial Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and when asked whether the bid will increased to £ 40 million (RM 192 million) as requested, Wenger refused to disclose it. Wenger said each player transfer process is secret and confidential.

Cech Wants More Action

LONDON - Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech confident the Blues squad will appear more robust in obtaining England Premier League trophy next season. Cech throw warning to the main challengers Chelsea after coach Jose Mourinho was appointed for the second time as manager of the Blues squad.

For the record,  Mourinho managed to lift the champions league trophy with FC Porto and Inter MIlan. In the past two years, Chelsea make a difference in terms of management and the players. Many young players brought into the squad.

But some of these players have experience of winning in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and Champions League. Chelsea certainty should strive to improve their performance capabilities of  players from the past two years.

Chelsea now appears to be an experienced team and know how to win big games. More importantly, they have a great potential managers. Coupled with the presence of a great player, it's like not having a problem to pose a challenge to the other teams.

The New Paul Scholes !

There is one player from La Liga that Manchester United would like to sign more than any other this season. If the Barclays Premier League champions can pull off that remarkable transfer in the coming weeks then Cristiano Ronaldo will need no reintroduction to anyone at Old Trafford.

In the meantime, however, United and their new manager David Moyes are close to bringing in another player from Iberia whom those familiar with football in Spain feel may yet develop into one of the mainstays of their all-conquering national team.

Incoming: Thiago Alcantara would significantly strengthen Manchester United's midfield

United supporters may look at their club’s pursuit of the midfielder Thiago Alcantara in one of two ways.

They may, if they wish, wonder why — with Ronaldo the club’s main summer target — Moyes and new chief executive Ed Woodward are trying to sign a player who is not deemed good enough to start regularly for Barcelona’s first team.

Conversely, however, they may choose to appreciate just how gifted a player schooled in Barcelona’s fabled youth system — or  Cantera — and who has studied at the feet of Xavi, Iniesta and Lionel Messi may eventually turn out to be.
Certainly, there is no doubt about the  22-year-old’s gift for creative attacking footballer.

Standing 5ft 7in tall and good enough to score the classic hat-trick — one right foot, one left foot and one header — for Spain’s Under 21 team, who won the European Championship last week, it is hard not to draw comparisons with Paul Scholes, who retired as a United player at the end of last season.

If United can agree personal terms over the weekend and Thiago does transpire to be anywhere near as effective as Scholes, then he will, of course, be quite some signing. In Catalonia there is some disquiet at the prospect of the playmaker’s sale. They don’t like losing their own — not the good ones anyway.

Talented: Barcelona hoped the midfielder would become a key player for them in the future
Retired: United need a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes

You only have to look at the efforts made to re-sign players such as  Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas from English clubs in recent years to understand that. In many people’s eyes, Thiago has not been given enough opportunities at the Nou Camp.

For all the majesty of midfield  players like Xavi and Iniesta, there were times last season when many observers wondered why their young apprentice was not given more of a chance to fill in at times when senior players looked a little tired.

The story has indeed been the same for Thiago with the national team. The son of Brazilian World Cup  winner Mazinho, he made his first appearance for Spain’s senior team almost two years ago but has played only two subsequent matches, hence his appearance for the Under 21 team in their triumphant Euro campaign in Israel this month.

What he seems to need now is an opportunity to move forwards. Just like Pique did — to a degree — at United and Fabregas did — much more — at Arsenal, Thiago is known to feel a spell away from Barcelona may help him develop.

At United, Moyes is keen to remain true to the values of his predecessor, Sir Alex Ferguson, in terms of a  commitment to attacking football. In addition, there was actually a feeling at Old Trafford last season that United — for all their success — didn’t always keep the ball well enough — especially in the  Champions League — and the pursuit of players like Thiago and Ronaldo is designed to address that to some extent.

Regarding Ronaldo, United continue to feel they have a chance of luring one of their favourite sons back to England. That remains a work in progress.

In the meantime, Moyes hopes that Thiago — if he signs — can become an equally important part of the bigger-picture jigsaw.
